When the late Richard North, resident of Kihei, passed away in 1995, he was so moved by the care he received at Maui Memorial Medical Center he bequeathed a sizable portion of his estate to benefit the hospital and its staff. This generous gift planted the seed that created the Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation.

Today, thanks to our growing philanthropic family, your Foundation continues to make a difference in our community by providing the tools, technology and other support needed to improve the quality of healthcare for our residents and visitors alike. As a result of state-of-the-art equipment purchased for Maui Memorial by the Foundation, physicians can make highly accurate diagnoses of breast abnormalities, effectively diagnose babies at-risk, and save more lives than ever before by dissolving blood clots that cause strokes. Donations to the Foundation have also made possible programs that benefit cancer patients and their families, preventative cardiovascular care programs, breast cancer screenings, and other health initiatives for our island residents.
